Hey Ladies,

Stop telling your girlfriends your business.

Don’t let anyone tell you what you should be doing in your house with your family. Where you should worship and how you discipline your children is your business. How often you clean your house or what you cook for dinner is also your business. The marrow of this story is keep your girlfriends out of your business.

Countdown To Men’s Empowerment Forum

Hey Ladies, it is almost time the Men’s Empowerment Summit. It’s next Saturday September 23, 2017 from 9am to 1pm at Cal State University, Dominguez Hills. We need to encourage all the men in our lives to come. It is time for our men to take control of their lives, starting with their health and well-being. It is necessary for men to take care of themselves, so they can lead and be an example for the next generation of men.

Let’s make this a great event by bringing our men.

A Celebration of Life

Hey Ladies,

This Sunday September 3, 2017 marks 40 years of my mother’s death. She was my best friend. She was the kind of mother that you could talk to everyday about anything, and I did. Her family was her life. She was cool with everyone. She kept up with all the latest styles of clothing. I wore her clothes on several occasions. She was full of life. She loved good music and she was a great dancer. Growing up our house was the house that all the kids came over.

I struggled mentally and physically for many years as a result of her death. I put my feelings aside because I was so hurt. I did not want to live, so there was no reason to seek help. I don’t think this was a good idea, but at the time I did. I am saying all this to say, when something tragic happens to you, seek help immediately for as long as you need it. The  sooner you address your pain the better.

The pain has not gone away, but I have learned to manage it.

God has blessed our family. We have had some set backs but through it all God has always been there. In the midnight hour, God turned our family around in every area of our lives.

Today instead of crying, we celebrate her life and the joy she brought to all of us.

You Have To Step Off The Ledge To Fly

Some have phrased it as, “Insanity is repeating the same pattern and expecting a different result”. Do not get this confused with perseverance. That is something completely different in nature. Some of us are afraid to truly live because we cannot see the outcome. If we were truly honest with ourselves, how many of us would choose routine over happiness? What is the cost of happiness? I think a better question would be to ask the cost of routine. Why are we afraid to sacrifice what we have for what we want? We want to fly but we want to stay away from the ledge. Extraordinary is not found anywhere near predictable or logical. Extraordinary happens when you surpass ordinary. You must roll the dice, if you will. It is not easy because it requires that you do what you are not comfortable with. But what is comfort? Ask yourself what you are truly comfortable with. Some people are comfortable with debt. They may not want it, but they are comfortable with it because they have had it for so long. Some people are comfortable with back pain. Some would say that those are “just a part of life”. They are if you believe them to be. But how ironic is it that we think someone is crazy who dreams of being the first man to walk on Mars. Why is that not a part of life? Will that not happen someday? Why is that harder to grasp than having debt you cannot get rid of? Maybe it is not the call that will kill us, but the ledge itself. The ledge is keeping our feet bound, stopping us from venturing out, seeing where life will take us. Why are we afraid of what we do not know or understand? This life did not come with an instruction manual. That means the only way to truly find out what reality is, is to go find out for yourself.
